British Invasion #agathachristie

I have always loved the idea of living in London and subsequently have always loved gray, rainy days which is very London-esque. Very recently, I have become enamored with many things from Great Britain, including books and television shows. I admit, I likely gave up on Dr. Who rather prematurely. I watched two episodes of one of the newer series, but just wasn’t into it. Perhaps I will revisit the show, as my husband and most of the world loves it! I have become very fond of other British shows including Absolutely Fabulous, AbFab, which literally has me laughing out loud. I also love the new Sherlock series and have recently finished season 1 via netflix. I have other shows either saved on my DVR or netflix queue that I have been waiting for just the right moment to watch; including Downton Abbey! I cannot wait to start watching that!
Besides television, I have become very obsessed with reading Agatha Christie books. I find it unbelievable that I have never read an Agatha book until very recently when one of them, The Murder at the Vicarage, was offered on my nook as a free download. I absolutely loved it! I also just finished reading “The Mysterious Affair at Styles” which was another awesome read. Coincidentally, both of these books were first in their series where Agatha introduces two of her main characters; in Murder at the Vicarage we were introduced to Miss Marple and in the Mysterious Affair at Styles we meet Poirot. What a struck of luck that I happened to read the first books for each character. I think it was destiny! I just joined a goodreads bookclub for Agatha Christie and the first book i’ll be reading with them is “The Hound of Death”. Sounds fascinating!

  2. YES. Awesome book. I just started Downton Abbey, as a side note, and I'm beyond hooked!!! I also need to figure out the next book in the Poirot, and Miss Marple, series. I know that the last Poirot book is "Curtain", so don't read that one yet. I am currently reading "The Hound of Death". It seems to be short stories, unless at the end everyone comes together. We shall see! :)

  3. I'm an Anglophile, too! I'm eventually going to start on DA, once I'm done with my current lineup. AbFab is a SCREAM! Love those ladies!
